Encouraging Smarter Travel

5,000 flyers, 3,000 balloons, 2,500 pedometers and 25kg of soft fruit – we don’t do things by half measure at Tricker PR.

When we were commissioned to deliver a series of fun and interactive roadshows to get people in Aberdeenshire to think about walking, using public transport and car sharing, we hit the road running.

Thanks to the support of a range of partners, we used a whole range of different methods to engage with youngsters and their teachers at the roadshows.

We set up dedicated Facebook and Twitter accounts and secured media coverage in all five roadshow areas each with their own theme to further spread message of Smarter Travel; commissioned 3,000 balloons on sticks in the Get About colours with the message “Aberdeenshire Council is on its way to a more sustainable transport future” and distributed 5,000 flyers to partnering schools and groups.

In addition, we liaised with senior teaching staff at each school, shared detail with Parent Councils, in newsletters and across social media and managed each of the roadshows wearing specially commissioned Aberdeenshire Council/GetAbout branded hoodies with the strapline “Aberdeenshire Council is on its way to a more sustainable transport future”.
